Sunidhi Chauhan

One of the most celebrated and sought-after playback singers in contemporary cinema, Sunidhi Chauhan rose to instant fame after recording "Ruki Ruki Si Zindagi" from Mast (1999), winning her the Filmfare RD Burman Award for New Music Talent & also being nominated for the Best Female Playback Singer.

Often dubbed by the media as the "Queen of item songs", Sunidhi`s powerful voice has enlivened some of the most iconic item songs in Bollywood. She has lent her mesmerising voice to several memorable songs in over 500 movies in the course of a career spanning over two decades.

An effervescent and soulful singer, Sunidhi Chauhan was a child prodigy who made her career debut at the age of 13, with the film Shastra (1996). She rose to fame after her song ‘Ruki Ruki Si Zindagi’ from Ram Gopal Varma’s film ‘Mast’ became a super hit. Her second breakthrough came in 2000, with the release of Fiza's song ‘Mehboob Mere’.

Her music incorporates pop, hip hop, and R&B elements. She is a brilliant singer with a broad range and a distinct style. With so many hit songs, in 2010, Sunidhi made her international singing debut in an alternate version of ‘Heartbeat’ titled ‘Heartbeat (India Mix)’ alongside Spanish recording artist Enrique Iglesias, which was included on a Special Indian Edition of Euphoria.

She represented India at the ‘2015 Global Citizen Festival’, an annual music festival created to commemorate the establishment of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a ‘to-do list’ of 17 tasks aimed at ending extreme global poverty by 2030. 

She was named to the Forbes Celebrity 100 of India four times between 2012 and 2015. She was ranked seventy-second in 2012, fifty-eighth in 2013, fifty-sixth in 2014, and sixty-second in 2015. 

Chauhan was named the ‘Hottest Female Bollywood Lead Singer’ by MensXP.com in 2013, and she was named the ‘World's Sexiest Asian Woman’ by FHM India. Chauhan was named to Forbes India's list of the ‘Top 5 Celeb100 Singers and Musicians’. In the ‘Vuclip Icons of the Year 2012’ mobile survey, she was also voted as ‘Bollywood's favourite Female Playback Singer’.
